For passports and ID cards in Germany, the photo has been sent digitally to the authority since 1 May 2025. At Foto-FFM you receive your digital passport photo as a QR code – for passports, ID cards, residence permits and driving licences. You also get 4 printed biometric passport photos.
This costs €15 per person, with no appointment and ready in minutes – also for children and babies.

What applies to passport photos
Biometric passport photo: size and requirements
Uniform biometric requirements apply in Germany to passports, ID cards and many residence documents. We know them and take care of them when photographing you, so that your photo is accepted by the authority.
- Format: 35 × 45 mm (width × height)
- Head height: chin to hairline 32–36 mm
- Gaze: straight into the camera, eyes open, mouth closed
- Expression: neutral, no smile and no head tilt
- Background: plain and light, no shadows or patterns
- Lighting: even, with no reflections on skin or glasses

Babies and small children are a challenge for passport photos. At Foto-FFM we take our time, photograph patiently and know the relaxed requirements for small children.
On request we retouch your passport photo subtly and within biometric rules: remove small blemishes, soften fine lines, lighten dark circles slightly – without changing how you look.

What size is a biometric passport photo in Germany?
The format is 35 × 45 mm. The head (chin to hairline) should be 32 to 36 mm high, face straight on, with a neutral expression, closed mouth and open eyes in front of a plain light background.
Do you also take passport photos of children and babies?
Yes. We photograph children and babies patiently in the studio. Relaxed requirements apply to small children, and we know them and take them into account.
Do you take photos for a US visa, green card or other countries?
Yes. For the USA (visa and green card), 4 passport photos plus a file cost €25 (set only), for Canada €19 (with stamp), for Moldova (children) €25 (4 passport photos including a 10 × 15 cm print). Other passport photo formats cost €15 for 4 photos. Just tell us the destination country and the type of visa.
What is a passport photo with a QR code (digital passport photo)?

For which documents can I get the QR code?

Can I be photographed wearing glasses or a head covering?
Glasses are allowed if the eyes are clearly visible and there are no reflections. A head covering is only permitted for religious reasons, and the face must remain fully visible. We will advise you in the studio.
